Information forms the foundation of shape-making, map-drawing, written expression, and the organization of data through numbers and mathematics. Design is defined by the purpose or application for which this information is used. This process may be described by the term designare—“to designate” or “to present.” In other words, it is the act of transforming intentions and plans into symbols.
